Why does yellow food stain turns bright red upon contact with hotel soap bar (and looks like lipstick mark)?

I don't want to get into trouble for that. Lol

And I swear it's food stain, it was yellow curry or something.

Any advice? Why does yellow food stain turns bright red upon contact with hotel soap bar (and looks like lipstick mark)?
This is actually a very common occurrence when dealing with curry stains! I would explain the scientific process, however it is irrelevant really... What you need to know is how to get rid of the stain!

The stain can be removed with baking soda and water paste. Put the garment in a plastic bag to keep moist overnight, then scrub and wash as usual! Why does yellow food stain turns bright red upon contact with hotel soap bar (and looks like lipstick mark)?
does the hotel not have a wash service? if not ask for half a lemon and some salt, dip the lemon in the salt and gently rub onto the stain in circular motions make sure you rinse it well and wash normally.

it saved my white linen trousers! =D
worst excuse i've heard, 1. you were in a hotel and 2. you got a food stain and blame the soap that made it look like lipstick stain? hmmmmmmm, coincidence? just bin the shirt....
It`s the Turmeric in the curry mix - it reacts with soap and turns red.
Haha.. Did the soap also make it smell like lipstick too lol!
Well, you have some good answers already.

Just one question though, was the stain shaped like lips as well?
Oh please....that's the best you could come up with?
i dread to think what it is l0l
