I am a make up artist that has done custom cosmetic blending work. Lipstick is made out of pigments either real [plant stains] or synthetic [ FD%26amp;C #12]. These pigments are then mixed with a wax ie..paraffin, carnuba, or beeswax. There may be other items added like fragerance or flavor.
As far I know there is not any type of fish scales added.

Fish scales used to be used, it is much more common for ';Mica'; a mineral (much like talc but shiny) to be used now. However some very cheap lip glosses, sometimes imported Like you might win at ';Chuck'E Cheese'; may have the coarse fish stuff in it. I can tell. Because I am alergic to fish. If it doesn't have ingrediants I can't use it after that one incident.... Anyhow.
As far as toxic ';Nasty'; ingrediants go. The first two ingrediants listed above are sunscreen. All the way down to ';Aloe'; are basically the ';moisturizing'; bulk of the lipstick. Fish scales used to be used, it is much more common for ';Mica'; a mineral (much like talc but shiny) to be used now. If it doesn't have ingrediants I can't use it after that one incident.... Anyhow.

Hold a tissue up to your lips and press loose powder into them through the tissue. Then, reapply the liner and dab a tiny bit of vaseline in the center of the bottom lip. This lasts all night, through dinner, kissing, etc.

I tried it! Its awesome if you go out alot and you don't like constantly reapplying your lipstick. Its smooth and it doesn't look cakey like most lipsticks. I got the one that comes with the gloss and it works great. The lipstick doesn't smear or run.
The only problem is its very hard to get the lipstick off. It kinda stains your lips and takes alot of scrubbing and alot of soap to get it all off. I would suggest you use make-up remover to take it off so you wouldnt have to scrub as hard and dry or damage your lips.
But if your planning on wearing it for hours this is a great product for you. It all depends on how long you like to wear your lipstick.

Yes I have tried this and it works really well but you are going to want to have some make up remover handy because it's the only way to completely get it off without drying out your lips and irritating them.

I'm being completely honest right now...we offer some lipstick that's supposed to do this it's called Perfect Wear Extralasting Lipstick. BUT I use Beyond Color Plumping Lipcolor SPF 15 With Double The Retinol...and it works wonders! It's not known for lasting forever but it does! I ate lunch and usually I would need to re-apply my lipstick but no. I went to do it and it was still there. Check it out.

Nowadays lots of make of brands are advertising of new lipsticks that last 6-8 hour or more. I tried them on because of my job but if you don't follow this trick they won't last as much as they're supposed to. Now,take a handkerchief and divide it up in the layer. Take one and lay in on your lips. Take a brush,whichever you have,and dip it into the powder. Than guide it gently on your lips. And the job's done!
The powder helps to fix the lipstick pigment in order to let it stay exactly on your lips. The powder won't change the lipstick color.

I've found using a twist up lip liner and then putting clear lipgloss on over works better. Walmart has lots of lipliner, so do other drugstores. outlast smooth wear is a good lipliner. For clear lipgloss that isn't real sticky and gloppy, you can try indulge.

Getting sick of lipsticks that dont last........?
along with the words you have too many punctuation marks......
anyway... im trying to find a lipstick that last all day [anything but revlon colorstay and cover girl outlast] so can someone suggest a brand.. and maybe a color for dark brown hair, light brown eyes and light skin..thank you Getting sick of lipsticks that dont last........?
Try Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay in Place Lip Duo.
Revlon's colorstay lipsticks always dried out and got flaky, and I didn't care for the kind that came with a wand that required a gloss fixative to be applied over it, BUT I recently tried one of the Colorstay Sheer lipsticks (Sheer Plum) and didn't have the problems with it drying out or being gooey. It doesn't last as long as the other two colorstay products but it does last longer than average lipsticks. And the colors are more subtle. I also have fair skin, and the plum doesn't look too harsh or too purple.Getting sick of lipsticks that dont last........?

Try peachy or really light brown shades for your kin tone.
Or you could try Almay. They have natural and hypo allergenic make up!
If you want your lipstick to stay, Maybe put some foundation or powder on your lips first,

I love my MAC lipstick but I find that the staying power isn't all that good.

I just find colours like 'snob' which are dramatically unlike my natural lip colour wear off to the edges of my lips and create a ring around them. Even when I first apply it, if I open my mouth a little it looks funny seeing the inside colour of my lip against it, and it licks off quickly.

BUT I found one I LOOOOOVE....it's L'oreal Infallible Lip Color Its in a little silver container that has the lipstick and it's own special moisturizer too cause if you use other chapstick it starts ruining the color stay effect. Seriously, I love it though. I can kiss, eat, etc and it's still there :) Got it at Target.
Also, don't put on any moisturizers BEFORE the lipstick or it won't be color stay and it will go on wrong. And if you put lotion on your whole face before lipstick, avoid lips.

i love maxfactor LIPFINITY. it last sooo long u can even sleep and wake up with it the next day. so is MAX WEAR which comes with a seperate gloss. lipfinity has a top coat which can be used only if u need a shine. if not the lipcolor is just as awsome but not too shiny.

covergirl outlast - awesome! put on the lipstick (which goes on kinda as a gloss) but is matte - then put on the top stick - it stays on ALL day,and u can reapply the top stick (which is kinda like a vaseline gloss stick) as u need it to keep shiny - i loooooove it.revlon colorstay is ok for lasting power,but is more matte.i havn't found a good just gloss that stays all day........What are some really long lasting lipglosses/lipsticks (minus the white residue)?

I personally like the Revlon lip glosses. They seem to last me a while.
Doesn't really matter what Brand of lip gloss it is, they all cause the white residue if left on for a long period of time without being refreshed.

Smudge proof/ long lasting red lipstick?
I love the retro pinup look and i like to wear red nails and red lipstick, however, i can never rock the red at school because it smudges too easily. I have tried many kinds of red lipstick, retro red from N.Y.C, Mary Kay's red tango, fire and ice by revlon, and even cover up products like she-laq by Benefit, but none of them dry quick enough or stay on well enough for me. SO, does anyone know what kind of red lipstick will stay on very well. Or even a laquer product that will MAKE it stay on, is smudge proof, and drys in at least a half an hour?

The glossier the lipstick, the easier it smudges, that's why lip gloss don't last as good as lipstick. I would suggest you put on a thin layer of liquid foundation all over you lip. Use a lip pencil to outline your lip n apply lipstick. Then blot with tissue after applying. Apply a light layer of powder with a fluffy brush. Then apply a second layer of lipstick. Your red lip color shud stay on longer with minimum smudging. Choose a lipstick that is not too creamy, most leading brands hv long staying formula now. Try avoiding oily food n blot your lips before eating. The base color shud still be there after your meal. Good Luck!
I would suggest MAC's Prolongwear Lipcolor in the the very red shade ( the name is escaping me right now). It will stay on for about 6 hours (I tested it) and even stayed on when I ate.
Its about 22 dollars and is double ended with the stain on one side and the gloss on the other. It lasts me almost six months if I use it once a week.
use ur Urban Decay primer potion on your lips.
don't forget to use a lip liner. go outside your lip liner with a little concealer- this will really help your lips be smudge proof.
after you apply the first coat of red lip stick, cover with translucent powder. apply another coat.

I've had excellent results with the cover girl long lasting ...goes from $10 -$12 and as long as you watch when you eat something like a salad with oil in it it will last from when you put it on till....what ever 10hours-18 hours..it's cheaper in the long run well worth the price.

I have tried Mary Kay but it makes my lips very dry, however if you decide you do not like the lipstick you can get a no hassle money back thing (very nice), their lipstick primer does work well to keep it from feathering but you will still get a heavy lipstick feeling.
Burt's Bees lip shimmer (some colors are more matte), goes on smooth and stays like that and they are also all-natural, they look great with a gloss on them (like C.O. Bigelow mentha libshine).

I am absolutely obsessed with Juicy Wear from Lancome. It comes in a variety of shades and some of them are sheer. What I like best about it is that it doesn't dry my lips out, or get an odd texture when I reapply.
The lesson that I learned in applying any all day lipstick, is that the key is NOT to apply it to your bottom (or top) lip and then rub the lips together to get an even coat. You need to apply a separate coat of your long wearing lip stick to EACH lip (and DON'T rub them together), and then let it dry for a minute before applying the gloss. This will keep the texture of the product ultra smooth, and the color rich.
As for the gloss, I love the one provided by the Juicy Wear. It's ultra-moist, and not sticky. Once the gloss and the lip pigment mix together, they have sort of a waxy feeling to them that makes my lips feel like I'm wearing balm instead of lip stick. Although the high shine look only lasts for a couple of hours, my lips look moisturized even when I don't have time to reapply the gloss.
Another neat trick to use involves basic lip liner and matte lip stick. If you line your lips and then apply a coat of matte lip stick, and then blot and reapply about three times, your pigment will last ALL DAY. Then all you have to do is carry around some clear gloss. It's awesome.
I've also had some success by applying a product called DeGroovy from Benefit (available at macy's or sephora.com) all over my lip after I line it. Then I apply lipstick as usual. DeGroovy is a clear wax that will accept any pigment, and prevent the lipstick from soaking into the lip, keeping your color looking fresh. Plus, the wax is like a balm on the lips, keeping them from drying out during the day.
Another product to try is Super Gloss from Makeup Forever (available at sephora.com and Sephora). It's a waterproof lip gloss that won't come off on your glass or sandwich. Unlike most lip glosses that are oil or waterbased, this one has a silicone base that keeps it from soaking into your lips. The shine lasts for 5-6 hours, and the pigmented glosses look like lipsticks on the lips, they're so loaded with pigment. Just be careful with long wear lipstick, what they don't tell you is that some of the longlasting lipstick has lead in it, which is bad for you.
I would have to go with Avon. I buy many prudocts from Avon. They have very nice lipsticks that wont smudge after light.
I don't wear lipstick except when I'm performing with my troupe (I hate makeup!) but Max Factor's long lasting lipstick (is it lipfinity?) hasn't smeared or rubbed off. You basically paint your lips with one tube of the stuff and then the other tube moistens and adds gloss. You only need to paint your lips once a day (according to the package) and add the gloss as needed.
COLORSTAY
Fashion fair is the best and the smoothest lipstick. It stays on all day without smearing. I have found it to be the best.

I use L'OREAL ENDLESS It works really great and you don't get that really dry feeling.

DeGroovy is a clear wax that will accept any pigment, and prevent the lipstick from soaking into the lip, keeping your color looking fresh. Another product to try is Super Gloss from Makeup Forever (available at sephora.com and Sephora). It's a waterproof lip gloss that won't come off on your glass or sandwich. Unlike most lip glosses that are oil or waterbased, this one has a silicone base that keeps it from soaking into your lips. The shine lasts for 5-6 hours, and the pigmented glosses look like lipsticks on the lips, they're so loaded with pigment. Just be careful with long wear lipstick, what they don't tell you is that some of the longlasting lipstick has lead in it, which is bad for you.
I would have to go with Avon. I buy many prudocts from Avon. They have very nice lipsticks that wont smudge after light.
I don't wear lipstick except when I'm performing with my troupe (I hate makeup!) but Max Factor's long lasting lipstick (is it lipfinity?) hasn't smeared or rubbed off. You basically paint your lips with one tube of the stuff and then the other tube moistens and adds gloss. You only need to paint your lips once a day (according to the package) and add the gloss as needed.
COLORSTAY
Fashion fair is the best and the smoothest lipstick. It stays on all day without smearing. I have found it to be the best.
Use the cover girl outlast lip color it lasts long and the shine stays on for hours.
I use L'OREAL ENDLESS It works really great and you don't get that really dry feeling.
Try Avon's Perfect Wear lipstick. Stays on while eating as well. Check out the other lipstick products as well.

My ultimate favorite is the CO Bigelow Apothecaries that you can buy at Bath and Body Works. They have MANY different flavors and they are really moisturizing and not sticky. Loreal Infalliable lipgloss usually lasts for about 6 hours and is not sticky. The shine usually goes away but the colors last for a long time. It is found at drugstore and really cheap.
try a stain. Revlon makes Just Bitten lip stains, or you can buy Benetint from Sephora, which is about $20 but worth it because it's also a blush.

MAC matte lipstick is very long lasting however their satin lipsticks wipe right off, so if your looking for a long lasting matte look go with MAC. If you want a long lasting shine go with COVERGIRL.

M.A.C definitely lasts longer, I own both M.A.C %26amp; covergirl, the covergirl one will stay on 4 a few hours, while m.a.c will last most of the day. The only thing I don't like about m.a.c is that it is a lot stickier, I'll get a little bit on my hand and it's hard to make the sticky feeling go away, I don't have this problem with cover girl, but I guess that is part of wat makes m.a.c last longer lol, hope I helped :)Do you think M.A.C of lipstick is the lasts longest or you think Covergirl,what do you think?
I prefer lip glosses to lipstick! Not sure what the name is but the shade is light pink, lovely for the summer! :)
